The Civil Aviation Organization of China requires the implementation of “UN38.3” from Jan. 1st, 2020.2023-02-24 17:14

Recently, the Civil Aviation Administration in China put forward the specification requirements for the UN38.3 test summary required for the air transportation of lithium batteries starting from Jan. 1st, 2020.

According to the 2019-2020 edition of the ICAO< Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air>,manufacturers and subsequent sellers of lithium cells or lithium batteries produced after June 30th, 2003 must provide the test summary specified in paragraph 38.3.5 of Part III, Section 38.3 of the United Nations (hereinafter referred to as UN38.3 test summary). This UN38.3 test summary must be offered from Jan.1st, 2020.

The specific content is as follows:

In the future, the "UN38.3 test summary" needs to be provided to the carrier (including airlines, shipping companies, etc.) and other relevant personnel before the lithium battery is transported,the regulations require that starting Jan. 1st, 2020,however, according to experience, some carriers will implement in advance. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention and understand it as soon as possible. It is recommended that the shippers and freight forwarders involved in the shipment of lithium batteries should tell each other.
